ACBA’s 2024 Installation & Distinguished Service Awards Night - Quote from Alice Cheng
The Alameda County Bar Association (ACBA) hosted their 2024 Installation & Distinguished Service Awards Night on January 25th at The Scottish Rite by Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA.
The Candelaria PC team was in attendance as we celebrated the LGBTQ+ community in honor of ACBA’s incoming Board President Megan Burns. California Supreme Court Justices Martin Jenkins and Carol Corrigan - both were also judges in Alameda County - joined for an intimate, fire-side chat. We are proud to be event sponsors! Congratulations to ACBA Immediate Past President Alice Cheng, Incoming Board of Directors, and 2024 Distinguished Service Award Recipients. Here is an excerpt from a post by Alice:
My last Installation for the ACBA Board was tonight at the beautiful Scottish Rite.
I didn’t get to take too many pictures because I was trying to soak it all in - saying hi to as many people as I could, trading stories over drinks, hugging, cracking jokes, and making new memories. Looking around the room, I realized what privilege I’ve had serving this organization and how fortunate I am to call so many of these people my friends.
I am so proud to stand with my friends over the years. Like Jo-Anna Nieves said, look at these big kids! I feel like I grew up with so many of my fellow ACBA board members and the community over the past decade. Also, like Pamela Ross said, it’s gonna be so weird when I won’t be joining the board on stage next year 🥹 but now I get to stand when they ask for the past presidents to stand.
Congrats to all the award winners and this board is going to get stuff done with Megan Burns at the helm. I love our legal community in Alameda County and we are a powerhouse. Like she said, 3 out of 7 of the current justices on the CA Supreme Court hailed from the Alameda courts. It’s just math, guys.
